Doongerwadi or the Towers of Silence is the pristine premises where the Parsi Zoroastrians are laid to rest and where the family of the deceased go to say their last good bye to their departed ones. The word literally means “green area on a hill”. It is situated amidst natural green surroundings keeping in mind the theological prescriptions and ecological well-being. The various buildings required for the last rites are within the premises of the Doongerwadi.
