The Mumbai Research Center of the Asiatic Society Of Mumbai presents Weaves Of Tradition with Savitha Suri.

Textiles are a key part of cultural heritage, offering insights into a community's socio-economic conditions and lifestyle, yet they're often overlooked in history. The East Indian Christians, original settlers of present-day Mumbai, have a rich but widely unrecognized history and cultural heritage, particularly in traditional textiles.
Savitha Suri's presentation, backed by her ASM-MRC Research Grant, will explore the community's history and the significance of their textiles, including the challenges faced in reviving these traditional crafts.

Date: Tuesday, April 2nd.
Venue: Durbar Hall, The Asiatic Society Of Mumbai
Time: 5.30 (tea at 5pm)
No prior registration needed.
