The Society regularly invites researchers and specialists in the fields of its interest to deliver lectures at the Society. These include local, national and international scholars.
Over the last decade, one biannual and 5 annual lectures and one annual seminar have been instituted on specific subjects through endowments made by individuals and institutions. One annual lecture and one annual seminar in the name of P.V.Kane are also held. Many distinguished scholars from India and abroad have delivered these lectures which have become prestigious events looked forward to by citizens of Mumbai.
On special occasions, the Society organizes lecture series on specific themes inviting speakers from all over the country. For example, to commemorate the birth centenary of Ganesh Rao Bhatkal, the pioneering publisher, the Society collaborated with the G.R.Bhatkal Foundation in 1996, to organize a series of 8 lectures delivered by specialists on the theme: Alternative"strategies for India's development. To commemorate 5O years of Indian independence, the
Society organized in 1997 -98, a series of 8 lectures and panel discussions on the theme: Cultural transformations in post-colonial India.
