Textile Heritage Walk with Savitha Suri

The Mumbai Research Centre of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai is pleased to present a Textile Heritage Walk with Savitha Suri to understand the heritage of Mumbai's textiles, which once made it the Urbs Prima in Indis. She takes you through Mulji Jetha (MJ) Market in Kalbadevi, considered to be Asia's largest textile market. MJ Market is one of the most important contributions of the Kutchi Bhatia community. The walk will introduce the community and their contributions to the textile trade. It will discuss the impact that markets like this have had on the trade and on the streetscape of the neighbourhood.
