The Literary Club of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai is pleased to invite you to a book discussion with R. Gopalakrishnan and Hrishi Bhattacharyya, as they discuss their new book “Embrace the Future,” at the Durbar Hall, Asiatic Society at 5 PM Wednesday, 19 June 2024. The authors will be in conversation with S. Ramadorai, author of “The TCS Story” and former Vice Chairman, TCS. The conversation will revolve around the theme “Why do families, societies, institutions, and companies hesitate to embrace the future? How can they rethink?”
Business Transformation is a live subject, one that authors R. Gopalakrishnan and Hrishi Bhattacharyya have had experience of in the course of leading their companies. Their learnings, supported by numerous examples, make for riveting reading. In life as in business, to effect a transformation, one needs a compelling narrative, one that inspires the organisation. It is also important to see transformation as a continuous endeavor that is made a part of work culture rather than to consider it as an exercise undertaken only in a crisis. As Gopalakrishnan and Bhattacharyya emphasise, companies that fail to adapt are destined to perish. One needs to learn from the past, manage the present and prepare for the future. We must imagine the future we desire and then integrate it into the present.
R. Gopalakrishnan has been involved in multiple organisational transformations during his professional career of over fifty years with Unilever and in the House of Tatas. This is his nineteenth book.
Hrishikesh Bhattacharyya is a management consultant, teacher, and author. In a career spanning fifty years, he was a senior Vice President in Unilever, based at their company headquarters in Europe.
