The Bank of India’s history seen in conjunction with histories of its founders, holds significant importance in early 20th century making of Bombay, the ‘Urbs Prima in Indis’, then an exponentially growing megapolis rooted in banking, trade and industries.
The Mumbai Research Centre of The Asiatic Society of Mumbai invites you to a visit to the Heritage Gallery of The Bank of India, led by R Venkatesh, inside the BOI building, Kala Ghoda, Fort.
R Venkatesh holds an MA History from JNU and BA Hist Hons. Delhi University, and is a life member of Asiatic Society of Mumbai, of INTACH and member of the Maritime Mumbai Museum Society. He has conducted several programs on banking/finance, architectural and maritime history of Mumbai.
