THE ASIATIC SOCIETY OF MUMBAI
MUMBAI RESEARCH CENTRE initiates an online lecture series on WILD MUMBAI
Mumbai is a Wild City like none other. Right within its municipal limits, there exist two protected areas viz. the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary. Even today, despite the onslaught of developmental activities, the city boasts of many small hotspots where wilderness is yet palpable. From the Colaba Woods, Malabar hill, Maharashtra Nature Park to the Mangroves along the city’s extensive coastline, its beaches and mudflats, Mumbai hosts diverse natural habitats making it veritably a nature lover’s paradise. This lecture series intends to bring out these characteristic features of the city’s biodiversity through interactive sessions with expert naturalists and biologists who have worked and studied it over many years.
