The Mumbai Research Centre of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai invites you to the 5th Bombay Booked. Our book for this session is ‘Multiplicities: Urban cultures of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’ where our authors discuss about Mumbai's urban development from the 5th century BC to the 20th century CE, highlighting its diverse heritage sites and cultures. It documents the region's historical progression through various eras, including pre-Mauryan, Buddhist, Islamic, and colonial periods. Challenging the notion that urbanization is solely a colonial legacy, the book traces Mumbai's urban roots back several centuries.
