The Mumbai Research Centre of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai is happy to announce Part 2 of the series Mythical Mumbai with Arundhuti Dasgupta and Utkarsh Patel.
 
Mumbai's diverse cultural tapestry is woven with stories, customs, and traditions from its inhabitants. This presentation will explore:
- The narratives of the original tribes who contributed to Mumbai's development.
- The tales brought by global migrants who made Mumbai their home.
- The rich folklore that reflects the city's religious plurality.
In essence, these stories are intertwined with the city's history and the collective memory of its people, shaping Mumbai's unique identity.

award-winning journalist Sanjeevani Kher
on Wednesday 7th February at 5 p.m. in the Durbar Hall

The Literary Club of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai takes pleasure in inviting you to a félicitation programme for award - winning journalist Sanjeevani Kher on Wednesday 7th February 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Durbar Hall.

The felicitation will be followed by an "In Conversation" with Sanjeevani Kher and Prof. Mangala Sirdeshpande, Hon.Secretary, Asiatic Society, formerly Professor of French, University of Mumbai.

Sanjeevani Kher has recently been conferred the Jagatik Marathi Parishad Academy award (established in 1989) for her lifetime work in journalism. Ms Kher has been a Member of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai over many years and was formerly a Vice President. She was co-editor of Lokprabha and worked with the Indian Express Group of newspapers in Mumbai. She continues to write articles as a free lance journalist.

Sanjeevani has 25 published books to her credit, two documentary films on local history, and is a winner of several awards. Currently, she gives talks on both Indian and International authors which are broadcast on a platform titled “Glokal Lehkika” in Marathi.
Do join us for this programme to honour our Member on her many achievements.
