To celebrate the bicentenary of Mumbai Samachar, the Literary Club of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai is pleased to invite you for a talk by Dr. Amrish Sinha on “Regional Journalism: Today and Tomorrow” in the Durbar Hall on Friday 29th July at 5 p.m.
Mumbai Samachar is celebrating its bicentenary (1822-2022). It is the oldest daily newspaper in Asia which has been continuously published without a break.
This remarkable and unique achievement is a landmark event for journalism in regional languages in India and calls for celebration. But it also provides an occasion to review and reflect on the state of media and not only print and electronic but also digital media in different languages.
The present scenario needs to be better understood and steps need to be identified for the future. What better place to discuss all this than in the Durbar Hall of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai – which has been a close neighbour of the Bombay Samachar, also situated around Horniman Circle.
We are fortunate to have media expert Dr. Amrish Sinha deliver a talk on “Regional Journalism: Today and Tomorrow.” This will set the platform for the discussion to follow when several journalists and media professionals will also be present.
Please join us for tea at 4.30 pm.
- Prof. Mangala Sirdeshpande, Officiating Hon. Secretary Asiatic Society of Mumbai
- Meenal Kshirsagar, Vice President of the Society & Chairperson - ASM LitClub
