The  Third  Dr. Aroon Tikekar Memorial Fellowship

 Dr. Aroon Tikekar, noted and erudite scholar-researcher, well-regarded writer, books and rare books collector, veteran editor, and eminent thinker passed away suddenly on January 19, 2016. He had contributed immensely to the intellectual life of Mumbai and Maharashtra in the last four decades through his vast collection of essays, editorials, opinion articles and books. He had also nurtured the tradition of well-researched historical and sociological studies.  Dr. Tikekar was the President of The Asiatic Society of Mumbai for six years (2007 to 2013) during which he had initiated several projects to enthuse and motivate young research scholars, and had infused new ideas and programmes into the renowned institution.

“Manto’s Bombay”

Walk conducted by the Mumbai Research Centre
on Friday, 10th August, 2018, at 11.00 a.m.

"Manto's Bombay" a walk with Mr. Rafique Baghdadi
Maximum no. of participants : 30 (on first come first served basis)
Meeting point : B. Merwan & Co., Shop No. 1/ 2,
Merwan Building, Opp. Grant Road Station (East)
Duration of Walk : Approx. 2 hours (11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.)

The walk will explore the cinema houses around Grant Road, weaving through the Kamathipura area and ending at Arab Gulley where Manto lived.
As number of participants is restricted, prior registration by email / phone call is necessary

Fees will be as follows:
Members of ASM - Rs.100/-, Non-Members - Rs.200/-, College Students - Rs.50/-
(Members and Students are requested to carry their identity cards)
The Fees are to be paid on the spot with exact denomination.
