The Literary Club of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai takes pleasure in inviting you to the book launch and discussion programme of “Women & Political Power in Maharshtra” by Neelima Bhave on Wednesday, 27th March 2024, at 5.00 p.m. in the Durbar Hall of the Society. The programme will be presided by Mr. Anand Limaye, a dedicated social worker, and well known Printing Technologist.
This book is a compilation of the results of three research projects covering three consecutive periods in the history of Maharashtra. They are combined here to provide a continuous graph of the important landmarks in the political & social situation in Maharashtra with a special focus on the independent minded Marathi Woman who was a product of the Marathi ethos.
Neelima Bhave has done her Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Bombay. She has been actively involved in various literary & NGO projects. She has 28 published books to her credit in different literary genres and is a recipient of 4 State literary awards. She has also received 11 awards for her books from different eminent literary associations.
Neelima Bhave is well-versed in Bengali and has translated a few works from Bengali into Marathi -- including books by Ravindranath Tagore.

Prof. Giacomella Orofino is a full professor of Tibetan Language and Literature and Indo-Tibetan Civilizations and Religions at the University of Naples "L'Orientale." She is the president of the Center for Buddhist Studies at the Oriental University, founding member and president of the Italian Association of Tibetan, Himalayan, and Mongolian Studies (AISTHiM), and founding member of the Non-Governmental Organization ASIA onlus (Association of International Solidarity in Asia).
